GV II

House. C16 and C17, altered in early C19. Timber framed, roughcast rendered,
roofed with handmade red clay tiles. C16 main range of 2 bays facing SE, with
axial stack at left end. C17 3-bay crosswing to left, extending forwards, with
external stack on right side. C19 single-storey extension at front of right
end, with end stack, completing a half-H plan. Lean-to porch in front right
angle. Main range of one storey with attics, crosswing of 2 storeys with
attics. SW elevation, ground floor, one early C19 sash of 16 lights, one C20
sash of 4 lights; first floor, 2 C20 sashes of 4 lights. Plain boarded door at
front of C20 lean-to porch. Roof half-hipped. Gambrel roof on main range,
half-hipped. One early C19 sash of 16 lights in left return (NW) wall. The
main range has a large wood-burning hearth reduced for a C20 grate, chamfered
axial beams with pyramid stops, plain joists of horizontal section supported on
pegged clamps. Jowled posts in both ranges. The gambrel roof of the main range
is a C17/C18 replacement of the original pitched roof. Clasped purlin roof in
C17 wing. I
