House

GV II

Lodge cottage. Early C19. Gault brick in Flemish bond, roofed with
hexagonal-pattern slates, and half-round red clay ridge tiles. T-plan with
gable to street at left end, and small C20 extension at right end. 3 internal
stacks with octagonal shafts and moulded caps. Original windows have central
mullion and transom, and drip moulds. Gabled porch to left (facing drive to
Colne House) with octagonal columns and pierced bargeboards. Half-glazed front
door with geometrical tracery and plain pilasters. Pierced bargeboards to
gables. Built by Mrs. Mary Gee, owner of Colne House estate (Wherein 1 Dwell,
Earls Colne WEA, 1983, 70). Colne House is not listed.
