2/2 Stours Farmhouse

GV II

House, c.1600, extended in C19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned approx. E-W, with axial chimney stack
in second bay from W end, originally forming a lobby-entrance to the N, now
blocked. Rear wing to S of this stack, with chimney stack at end. Short C19
extension beyond. C20 lean-to extension, single-storey, in SE angle. 2
storeys. N elevation, ground floor, 2 C20 casement windows. First floor, one
C19 horizontally sliding sash window of 8 lights, and one C20 casement window.
The interior has jowled posts, curved bracing trenched inside heavy studding,
plain-chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops. At the head of the stair there
is an original post with rounded square knob. RCHM 7.
