House, C16, altered c.1900. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red clay tiles. 2 bays aligned NW-SE, mid-C16. 4-bay range to SE added c.1570,
forming an L-plan, with chimney stack at the junction, aspect SE. One bay added
to SW, c.1600, forming a T-plan. Single-storey extension with catslide roof in
W angle, C19, and C20 conservatory. Single-storey lean-to extension in N angle,
C20. 2 storeys. Door, c.1900, in rustic porch with tiled gabled roof. On
ground floor, 3 casement windows, c.1900, one C18 3-light window with wrought-
iron casement, pair of late C16 high windows with reproduction mullions. First
floor, one C19 cast iron casement window, 4 3-light windows of C18 type but
considerably restored and altered. The NW elevation of the front range has a
late C16 long high window with ovolo mullions. The interior has jowled posts,
heavy studding with curved braces trenched to the inside, edge-halved and
bridled scarfs in the wallplates, chamfered joists of horizontal section with
step stops, clasped purlin roof. Main ground floor hearth rebuilt in stone, but
chimney stack above is original. RCHM 8.
