4/14 The Old Rectory

House, C16 and C19. Timber framed, mainly clad with red brick, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. Main range aligned NW-SE with axial chimney stack
at NW end. C16 SE crosswing with one internal chimney stack and one C19
external chimney stack at NW end. C19 NW crosswing with internal chimney stack
at NW end, and single-storey lean-to extension beyond. C19 gabled porch and
small lean-to extension at SE end. 2 storeys. SW elevation, one bay, 2
casement windows and one tripartite double-hung sash window on ground floor, all
C19. First floor, 4 casement windows and one tripartite double-hung sash window,
all C19. Imitation framing on gables. The chimney stack in the SE crosswing
has grouped diagonal shafts, early C17, and the external stack has grouped
diagonal shafts, C19. The interior of the SE crosswing has jowled posts, heavy
studding with curved braces trenched inside, one panel of exposed wattle and
daub, joists of horizontal section, and clasped purlin roof with curved wind
bracing. RCHM 3.
