2 houses. Spice cupboard reads: "HER/1697". Painted stone rubble with slate
roof. 2 storeys, 5 bays, 1st 2 bays form present farmhouse, formerly stables.
Cottage has slate dripcourse over ground floor. Windows have casements; cottage
has fire window to left. 2 entrances, one in large gabled porch. Rear has
gabled projection. 2 gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. Interior has
plank and muntin partitions and panelled doors; spice cupboard door has
decorative panels. Property of the National Tryst, the gift of Beatrix Potter.
