School and School house. C19. lint clad with stone dressings. Asymmetrical
building. Red tiled roof of 2 ranges. Two forward gabled, 2 storey crosswings
to right range. Pierced ridge tiles. Stone parapet verges to left single storey
range. Gabled porch to left with 2 centred, 2 order, chamfered arch opening.
Shafts with foliate and animal capitals. 2 centred arched head to vertically
boarded door. Cross to gable apex. Stone dressed buttress to left return. Two
stone 5 light windows with Gothic heads to right of porch. Buttress to right of
these windows. Central crosswing. Left return has steps leading to a 2 centred
arch doorway with vertically boarded door which has ornate iron hinges.
Segmental pointed arch above transom windows to ground floor. Stone 2 light
window with cusping and quatrefoil over to first floor. Panelled, pointed head
door between the crosswings. Right crosswing with gargoyle to corbels. 3 stone
ogee lights with cusping to ground floor. 2 matching lights to first floor with
roundel over. Moulded rainwater heads. 2 flint and stone dressed chimney
stacks, the front with gargoyles and mouldings, the rear is very worn. Flint and
stone chimney stack to left range. There is a flint wall with moulded stone
capping to the front of the building.
