Road bridge, 1762-3 by Sir Thomas Robinson. Squared sandstone with ashlar
voussoirs. Slightly-recessed round arch spans 34 metres, and is now
stabilised by 8 iron tie rods and plates. Raking buttressed faces to
abutments. Parapet has slightly-projecting coping on square brackets and is
cambered over the arch, breaking forward on either side to form pedestrian
refuges. Wing walls terminate in low square piers with pyramidal caps. West
end of bridge is slightly canted on plan.
