Cottage, probably early C19. Squared rough-faced stone with cut dressings;
graduated Lakeland slate roof. North elevation 1 storey on basement, 3 bays.
Steps up and bridge across to centre part-glazed 6-panel door. Renewed 9-pane
sashes in end bays. Basement has C20 glazed door on left, boarded door on far
right and two 6-pane casements between. Hipped roof with stepped-and-banded
ridge stack. Left return shows canted bay with central-French window under
round arch, opening to iron balcony, built out above cliff. Flanking boarded
windows. Moulded block cornice. 12-pane casements below balcony. Right
return shows blocked tripartite window under pedimented hood on block corbels.
Rear elevation shows central-blocked door, under pent slated hood on block
corbels, and 2 renewed sashes to each side.

Although the house looks early C19, a 'tea room' here is mentioned in A Six
Months Tour through the North of England (1770) by Arthur Young.
