House. Early C19 remodelled and enlarged 1853 for Robert and Mary Lodge.
South and East elevations squared tooled stone with tooled ashlar dressings;
north wall coursed rubble, west wall rendered. Graduated Lakeland slate roof.
2 storeys, 3 + 1 bays. Chamfered plinth. Left part has central carved door
with 2 shoulder-arched glazed panels and 2-pane overlight, in open wood porch
under shaped spandrels and pent stone slab roof; slab above inscribed 'R & M
LODGE' with date. 12-pane sash windows with tooled lintels and slightly-
projecting sills. Hipped roof with 2 stepped-and-banded stacks on ridge.
2-bay right return shows similar sashes, with ground-floor canted bay on left
and 2-storey corniced bay on right. Rear shows central arched stair window,
with radial head in surround with imposts on keystone.
Interior: Inner door with coloured glass and overlight. 6-panel doors and
folding panelled shutters throughout. Arches on consoles to stair hall; dog-
leg cut-string stair with stick balusters, moulded newels, moulded and
wreathed handrail, curtail step and shaped tread ends.
