Wall and summerhouse,
30 metres west of
Hardwick Hall Hotel

Garden wall and summerhouse. Mid C18. Narrow red brick in English garden wall
bond; sandstone ashlar summerhouse. Wall, running west for about 100 metres
from west return of Hardwick Hall, incorporates small summerhouse about 35 metres
from east end. Wall, about 4.5 metres high, has brick piers at 6.0 metre
intervals, mainly rebuilt upper courses and flat stone coping. Pedimented,
distyle in antis summerhouse breaks slightly forward and has Tuscan columns with
necking bands. 30-metre east section, with later buttressing, has been altered
and is not of special interest.
