GV II Lodge)
House, former farmhouse. Late C16. Timber framed and plastered with pegtile
roof. Of basic 'T' plan shape with crosswing at south west end with roof hipped
at the front and gabled at the rear. The 'hall' range has a higher ridge line
and is gabled. North east gable triangle is black weatherboarded and there is a
small area of similar boarding on the upper part of the south west gable. Of 2
storeys but with single storey lean-to's with pantiles against the north east
gable and to the rear. Front has C20 angle porch with hipped pegtile roof and
imitation framing. Windows are C2O metal casements with square leaded lights.
Red brick stacks break through the ridge line, near the front of the crosswing
and near the north east gable. Internally the framing is exposed showing 'in-
line' hall and parlour/solar with bracing proud of studs as in barn adjoining.
Jowled posts and side purlin roof with arch braces. Halved and bladed scarf
joints. Probable former open hall. Stack in east end of hall has integral
bread oven with cast iron door in face.
