Rylecombe Farm House

Farm house. C17 origin, altered in C18 and C19. Walls have stone base, with
brickwork of two dates above this, and top stage of plastered cob, indicating
successive raising. Thatched roof, brick stacks. One storey and attics. Ledged
door with glass panel. Ground floor has two horizontally sliding sash windows with
glazing bars. Attic has two half-dormers with similar sashes and one blocked
dormer. Single-storey lean-to on north with concrete block walls and asbestos
roof. Internally, one ground floor room has large open fireplace, part blocked,
with moulded and cambered timber lintel, and bread oven. One exposed ceiling beam.
Other ground floor room has later fireplace and deep chamfered ceiling beam. On
first floor, one partition has C16 linenfold panelling - probably re-used.
