GV II

Farmhouse, now private house, C16 origin with additions and alterations of
the Cl7 and C18. Part rubble and flint with ashlar quoins, part timber-
frame and part brick with tiled roofs. Massive 2 stage chimney breasts at
each end terminating in paired brick flues set diagonally L-plan. 2 storeys,
3 window range. 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars to upper
floor similar 3-light windows to the ground floor. Central C19 gabled
porch with glazed door. Former porch incorporating stair tower to the
rear is now blocked.

Internal features: south room of east range has open fireplace with
chamfered timber bressummer with raised centre and chamfered stone jambs
with run-out stops; niche beside north fireplace has C18 woodwork with a
moulded architrave and fluted pilasters; various early doorways to first
floor rooms; parition with original window by staircase. (RCHM, Dorset,
