Petersham Farm House

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably mid-C18. Brick walls, tiled roof with coped gable at
right end. Brick stacks, - of cruciform plan, with oversailing caps, one at
right end and one at left end of original section. House extended to left in
Cl9. 2 storeys and attic. Plat band at first floor level and shallow plinth,
to original section. Panelled door in C20 open timber porch. In original
section, ground floor has 2 casements with horizontal glazing bars under
gauged arches. First floor has 2 similar casements without arches. In later,
left section, a similar casement on each floor - segmental arch on ground
floor. At left end a rear wing of one storey and attic, - the former dairy
and cheese loft. Also a C19 rear staircase wing, all in matching
construction. Internally, some chamfered ceiling beams and evidence of large
fireplaces, part built up. (R.C.H.M. Monument 16. Dorset Vol V).
