5/81 Stanbridge Farm Mill

II

Mill and attached millhouse. House c1800, mill early C19. Brick with tiled
roof and brick stacks to the ends of the house. Dentilled brick cornice. 2
storeys and attics. 7 bays altogether. House 3 bays, symmetrical. Windows
under segmental brick heads. House has 20 pane sashes to ground floor and 12
pane sashes above. Mill has various fenestration with glazing bars. Glazed
double doors leading on to small first floor balcony. House has central
panelled door with transom light under open pedimented hood on slender
columns. A former 4 storey range to the left has been demolished.
Internally, much of the mill machinery has been preserved and is displayed
behind a glass case. (R.C.H.M. Dorset, Vol V, p.36, no.3. Dorset Watermills
