1741. Colourwashed brick. Pitched Purbeck slate roof. Brick gable coping. Red
brick stacks. 2 storeys. Blocked giant angle pilasters, and 2 pilasters taking
central pediment, in whose tympanum an oblong panel surrounds a tablet inscribed
"This ALMSHOUSE Founded time immemorial for the maintenance of six antient Men and
five Women was Endowed AD 1418 by JOHN STRECH Esqr and Rebuilt by HENRY DRAX and
JOHN PITT Esqrs. AD 1741." Square wooden bellcote over pediment, with round arches
with moulded voussoirs and keystones, flanked by pilasters taking full entablature,
and ogival lead roof. 2 storeys. 6 modern casements on 1st floor, plus 3 blocked
windows. 8 late C19 casements on ground floor. Planked door up 2 steps, in blocked
semi-circular arch, framed by blocked pilasters taking entablature with keystone.
