Sluice gate and flanking walls. Late C19 with C20 alterations. Timber and cast-iron, with brick walling to water channels. Studded timber sluice gate, horizontally-boarded, set between upright timber posts. The gate has vertical side boards, with 2 toothed iron racks set vertically on them. Iron pinion wheels are attached to either end of a horizontal roller, which, when turned, raises the gate to allow water to flow out of the mill head race channel into a brick lined overflow channel to the west of the sluice gate. Part of the water control system for Hyde Mill (item 44/10027), and, forming a group with the mill and the adjacent range of farm buildings and mill office (item 44/10026).
