ST 6601 CERNE ABBAS LONG STREET, (south side)

Farmhouse) (formerly listed as
GV House adjoining No 127 on
26.1.56 II * East)

House, attached at west end. Mid C18. Rubble-stone and flint plinth. Brick walls
in Flemish bond, with dosers. Brick plat band. Rear wall rendered. Stone slab
and clay-tile roof with stone gable-copings. Brick stacks at left and right hand
gables. Two storeys. 5 windows, sashes and glazing-bars, gauged and ribbed brick
voussoirs. Front door at centre, fielded-panel, surrounded by recess pilasters with
fluted frieze and dentil cornice. Original service-range at right-angles to rear.
Interior: brick-jambed fireplaces in the west room and rear range, brick benches
to the former. Cambered wood lintels, C18. Slightly-chamfered ceiling-beams
(rear). East room has full fielded-panelling and alcove with door (reset), Cl8.
Fireplace in nearby corner removed, and room extended to south and windowed, C20,
instead of original passage. Staircase with original handrail, and mixture of
original and replaced balusters. Flagstone floors.
