Detached house. Formerly a farmhouse with attached cottage and barn. C16 origin;
house remodelled in C17, cottage and barn added in C18 - all considerably restored
c1980. Rubble stone and flint walls, with some brick repairs; incorporating
fragments of re-used dressed medieval stone - possibly from Milton Abbey, and
part plastered. Hipped thatched roof. One stone and one brick stack, on ridge.
Z-shaped plan. One storey and attic. Original house, the central section, at
right angles to road, originally a long-house of open - hall form. This has
oak ledged door in moulded stone surround inscribed "R.G.1695". Buttress left
of this. Ground floor has 3 casement windows with cast iron glazing and one with
timber glazing bars. Attic has four ½-dormers with C20 casements with glazing bars.
Front range - parallel to road, consists of the added C18 cottage (now part of
house) part rebuilt c1980. Rubble stone walls, part plastered, with brick
buttress. C20 door and windows. Lean-to extension at left end. Rear range,
the former barn, now partly converted to residential accommodation. In original
house, main ground floor room has large open fireplace with stone jambs, timber
lintel and bread oven. Ceiling of intersecting moulded ceiling beams - inserted
in open hall in C17. Rear room also has large open fireplace with timber lintel
