Early to mid C19 stuccoed front to much earlier timber-framed building. Three storeys with moulded cornice and old tile roof. Four windows facing street above modern shop front, small casements to second floor, flush-framed sashes first floor. The building is mentioned in a document of 1639 but framework probably medieval.
Heavy roof truss with cambered beam, braces and purlins. Rear wing, since restoration virtually detached, has exposed timbering, with wall posts, and brick nogging.
No 2 Thames Street; Knights Tavern; Nos 5 to 16 (consec) Thames Street and Nos 18 to 25 (consec) Thames Street, form an important group.
