11/11 Bear Farmhouse

11.4.72 II

Farmhouse. Late C16, extended and altered C19 and mid C20. Part timber frame,
brick infill; partly encased in brick; part brick. Some timber frame with
painted render infill. Old tile gabled roofs. L-plan of 3x2 framed bays with
extensions in internal angle. 2 storeys. 2 chimneys at rear and one on ridge,
with clay pots. C20 wooden and metal casement windows, some with glazing bars,
some leaded. South elevation (facing road): timber frame underbuilt in brick.
Three 2-light leaded casement windows first floor, 2 larger similar windows
ground floor. Gabled entrance porch to left of centre now disused, with plain
window replacing door. Entrance on east gable under large gabled projection
with tall window in weatherboarded gable. Interior: principal ground floor
beams and joists exposed, all with plain chamfers. Queen post roof.
