Gate piers. Early C18. Brick with stone dressings. Pair of tall square
piers with stone plinth base and moulded stone plinth cap. Stone corniced
caps surmounted by carved stone vases with swags, fruit and flowers. east
and west faces have arched niches above plinths with stone strings at
impost level, stone keys and stone shells in arches and moulded stone
panels above niches. north and south faces have brick pilasters for gate
hinges, wall or railings, capped by stone moulded cornices and scrolls.
Gate piers to the former Manor House, built for the Earl of Craven by Sir
Balthazar Gerbier and William Wynne, and burnt down in 1718. B.O.E. Berkshire
