Former ventilation furnace and chimney of Golden Valley coal mine. C1840-50, restored
1984 by the Bristol Industrial Archaeological Society. Tapered chimney of random stone
rubble with brick capping. Brick lined furnace. The ventilation furnace was designed
to draw up foul air from the underground workings of the mine, and is reputed to be
the oldest of its kind.
