Engineering works, former pin factory of T Rawbone & Co. Late
C18 (pre-1802). Pennant rubble with brick dressings to openings
and double Roman tiles to 2-storey factory range, lower range
abuts to south and former boiler house wing abuts to east. Main
range of six 30-pane iron windows with brick segmental arches and
cills to each side with pivot ventilators to centre, those to
ground floor east side replaced and those to ground floor west
side interrupted by C20 double doors. Rendered lower range has
central loading door and C20 windows. Left (north) gable end has
metal stair to first-floor door and a similar iron window.
Interior noted as having 3 floor beams and 4-bay roof with
purlins tusk-tenoned to collared principals.
A rare example of a small-scale late 18th century factory
building. Pin making was an important local industry; all the
pin-making machines from this factory are in Bristol Industrial
Museum.
