House, formerly farmhouse. Rear wing probably C17, raised early C19. Main range
mid C18, with early C19 addition to left. Ironstone ashlar with splayed plinth,
string course and moulded cornice. Old tile roof has coped gable parapets with
kneelers; stone left end and brick right end stacks. Addition is rendered with
string course slate roof; brick end stack. Rear wing of coursed ironstone rubble
with colourwashed rendered brick above. C20 tile roof. L-plan, with wing on left
to rear. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window main range. Main front to garden. C19
rendered open-fronted porch has simple Tudor arch and gable parapet with large
kneelers. C19 double-leaf 4-panelled door and overlight with glazing bars. Cross
windows have horizontal glazing bar and stone flat arches with keystones merging
into string course. Early C19 canted bay to right and addition have sashes.
Second and fourth bays have 2-light hipped roof dormers. 2-storey, one-window
addition has 6-pane sash. To rear: main range has brick dog-tooth cornice. Late
C20 lean-to in angle. 2-window wing has old 2-light casement with painted wood
lintel. Late C20 casements above. Interior; dog-leg staircase has scrolled open
string, column-on-vase balusters and moulded handrail. Room to left has panelled
dado. Large open fireplace has stepped stop-chamfered beam and cupboard inside.
Panelled shutters. Old 2-panelled former exterior door with strap hinges. Room
to right has C17 style panelling imported from elsewhere. Kitchen has large open
fireplace with bread oven; stepped stop-chamfered bressumer and large ceiling
beam.
