Pair of cottages, early C19 with later alterations, brown brick
with slate roof. 2 storeys; double-depth plan with rear outshut
(considerably rebuilt). Regular 2-window range; cast iron Gothic
headed casements with glazing bars and interlaced tracery, at
ground and first floor level, five panes wide ground floor, four
above. Both cottages have boarded doors in the facade.
Scallop-edged eaves fascia and outrigger rafters to verges. The gable-end
of No. 3 has horizontal sliding sashes converted to casements and
an added section with a Gothic headed window; the gable-end of
No.4 has large stormguard casements with leaded glazing. Apex
treatment consists of exposed rafter collar and dropped finial
post with moulded foot. Plain centre ridge stack, mainly of brown
brick with lower four course in yellow bricks.
