Farmhouse. Early C18, possibly incorporating late C17 parts; dated "G.C.C./
1880", referring to previous conversion for municipal use. Coursed rubble;
slate roofs behind tall parapet which has inset ashlar panels; moulded projecting
cornice. 3 storeys. 2:3:2 bays: the centre 3 are slightly advanced and
surmounted by a pediment with the date plaque in the tympanum. Glazing bar sash
windows, some with early C18 thick bars and glass; 8 pane sashes to the centre;
in exposed boxes and under thin dripmoulds. Central C20 door; projecting porch
on plain uprights. The north gable end has Venetian windows; cross windows to
rear stairtower. Interior. Moulded beams to ground and first floor north
rooms. Open well stair with open string and turned and twisted balusters,
panelled dado. Some panelled rooms.
