Rectory, now a private house, and adjoining coach-house and stables. Dated
1864, by George Devey, for the Earl of Ducie. Coursed squared rubble with
freestone dressings; plain tiled roof; diagonal and square brick'stacks with
cornice. Irregular L-plan in a gabled vernacular style with a cross wing to the
south. 2 storeys and attics in gables. 3 bays. To the left is a projecting
square bay window capped by a gable: 6-light cross window with king mullions and
under a moulded string course on the ground floor, 3- and 2-light windows on
first floor. Gabled cross wing to the right: buttress on the ground floor with
a 1:2:1 light oriel window above and a 3-light casement in the attic. In the
centre is a moulded doorcase with a 4- centred head, enriched spandrels and
under a hoodmould with lozenge stops; the Ducie coronet and date is above;
4-light cross window on the first floor and 2-light casement in the attic. To
the left of the house a wall projects to the north for 15 yards- and behind it the
single storey coach-house, offices and stables of the house enclose 3 sides of a
yard.
