Former Union Workhouse built circa 1834. Now forms central block of St Mary's
Hospital. Luton grey bricks under Welsh slate roofs. Section facing Dunstable
Road has central 2 storey block with hipped roof and deep eaves. Four first
floor sash windows with glazing bars under gauged brick heads with keystones;
central semi-circular arched dummy window with in-and-out quoins. Similar
ground floor with central doorway. Two lower rectangular wings to sides:
left hand has 3 windows per floor, right hand has 2: all with stucco heads.
Long rear projecting wing with central hexagonal block.
