17/377 The Turret, Hinwick House

Remains of early C16 Manor House which preceded Hinwick House. The building
was altered and extended C18 and is now used as cottage accommodation.
Coursed limestone rubble. Concrete tile roof with stone gable coping and
moulded kneelers. Two storey and attics with one storey gabled wing
projecting to rear and rectangular three storey loggia to front. This turret
is open-fronted to ground and first floors and contains a staircase with
balustraded first floor landing. Second floor has leaded casements to side
elevations. Front has clock with inscription R.O. 1710. Flat roof.
Hexagonal timber cupola with lead roof and weathervane. Windows throughout
the building are asymmetrically placed casements with glazing bars.
