Garden Wall at Manor Farm
II
Garden wall and boundary wall, including some remains of former manor house. C17, with one
C18 section altered in C19. Plan is 2 squares with no wall on bottom of right hand square.
Western square appears to have been garden wall with separate boundary wall to east, linked
to the garden wall in the C18. SW section red brick with diaper patterning in vitrified bricks,
approx 40 metres long, standing about 1 metre high. It includes 2 fireplaces (blocked with
apparently earlier, possibly C16, brick) indicating that this was the NE elevation of part of the
earlier manor house. SE wall red brick with diaper pattern in vitrified bricks, approx 50 metres
long and 1 metre high. NW section of western square of red brick on stone base, approx 50
metres long and 1 metre high. NE section of western square is of red brick, approx 50 metres
long and 1 metre high. NW section of eastern square has an C18 base with C19 repairs and a
series of triangular brick buttresses on the inner rice. It is approx 60 metres long and 1 metre
high. The NE section of the eastern square is of red brick with some diaper patterning in
vitrified bricks on stone base, and coping of 2 rows of standing bricks inclined in a triangular
shape. It is about 60 metres long and varies from 1 to 2 metres with an L-shaped addition a few
metres long to the NE. This section adjoins the churchyard of St Lawrence's Church.
