15.1.61 Pegsdon barns
II
House. C16, reworked C18 and C19. Originally timber framed, some close-studding
exposed to E elevation with brick infill. Large areas recased or rebuilt in C18
red brick with some flared bricks. Late C19 extensions in yellow brick. Clay
tile roofs. H-plan, central block of one storey and attics, cross-wings of 2
storeys, both cross-wings extended northwards late C19. S elevation: ground
floor has 3 C19 canted bay windows with yellow brick plinths and hipped roofs.
Central block has one gabled dormer with 3-light window. Cross-wings each have
3-light window to first floor. All leaded casements, some C20. To main block at
junction with RH cross-wing is plank door with sidelights under gabled open
porch. Off-centre multiple ridge stacks to central block. Cross-wings each have
multiple ridge stacks. RH cross-wing has 2 additional external stacks to side
wall.
