23.1.61 The Red House

House. Early C19. Red brick. Hipped slate roof. 3-storeyed double-pile
plan block, with single storeyed block to rear. S elevation: 3-window range,
ground floor having French windows with wood valances, first and second floors
having sashes with glazing bars. Central Roman Doric stone porch with fluted
columns, pilasters and frieze with wreaths. 3-panel door, flanked by
sidelights and surmounted by semi-circular fanlight with decorative glazing
bars. Brick bands at first and second floor levels. Bracketed eaves cornice.
2 red brick multiple ridge stacks. Rear block: Gothic Revival style, with
ogee-headed tripartite leaded windows and embattled parapet. Interior: rather
plain.
