1887. Designed by G.W. Webb. Portland stone. Ashlar with polished granite columns and red sandstone bands. Oval three stage fountain. Large lower basin (now flower beds) and drinking bowls. Colonnaded drum with inscribed frieze. Smaller drum over with canopied oval cone supporting single columns capped by griffins and further capped by crown. Water formerly spouted from the top and from the gargoyles' mouths. A typical Victorian amalgam of forms and conceits.
