House. Early C17, altered in C19 and C20. Timber framed, plastered, roof thatched.
3 bays facing SW, with central stack forming a lobby-entrance. C20 extension to
rear. One storey with attics. 2 C20 casements, and 2 more in gabled dormers. Door
with 4 narrow vertical panels and 4-centred head, at front of C19 Gothic Revival
porch of red brick in Flemish bond, with roof of handmade red clay tiles. Date 1589
inscribed in modern plaster of left dormer. Close studding with chisel-cut
carpenter's assembly marks, primary straight bracing, face-halved and bladed scarfs
in wallplates. The right bay has a chamfered axial beam and chamfered joists of
horizontal section, all with lamb's tongue and roll stops. The left bay has a
chamfered beam with lamb's tongue stops, plain square joists in front of it,
chamfered joists of horizontal section with lamb's tongue stops behind it. Clasped
purlin roof. Hearths much altered.
