TL 40 NE NORTH WEALD BASSETT VICARAGE LANE

Louse, C17 extended in C18/19. Timber framed, mainly plastered, part
weatherboarded, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned
approximately E-W with external chimney stacks at both ends. Aspect S. Stair
tower to rear of second bay from W. Lean-to single storey extension along the
whole of the N side, enclosing the stair tower, with a catslide roof. Bread
oven, broken open, in tiled lean-to extension to N of E chimney stack. Lean-to
extension to NE of it, with roof of C20, corrugated tiles. 2 storeys. Plain
door under shallow hood, C20, 3 window range of C19 casements. Ground floor
weatherboarded, roughcast render above. Grouped diagonal shafts on W chimney
stack only. There is some possibility of a long jetty, in which case the house
would be earlier, probably C16. RCHM 8.
