Cottage. C18. Timber framed, plastered, roof thatched. 2-room plan with
approximately central stair, external stack at each end. C20 rear extension of
full width, of 2 storeys with flat roof. One storey with attics. Ground floor,
4 C20 casements. First floor, 2 C20 casements over door, and 2 more in gabled
dormers. C20 door in thatched gabled porch. Main frame jointed and
double-pegged. Original binding beam across each ground floor room (one of high
quality softwood), with plain joists of square section. Primary straight
bracing. 2 large wood-burning hearths (one reduced for a C20 grate), the upper
parts of the stacks rebuilt for use with coal. Clasped purlin roof with ridge.
Built without internal tiebeams. C19 maps show that it has been divided into 3
tenements, later 2, now re-combined.
