Building of early to mid C19 appearance; until late 1960s the home of the
King family, the owners of the adjoining smithy. Low addition with tiled
roof and one window bay on left hand side. Slate gabled roof to house.
Sash windows with moulded architraves, glazing bars intact. Striking wrought
iron trellis and cresting to stone porch. This is the work of a Mr King,
circa 1840, whose family have been smiths here for several hundred years
and whose grandson still occupies (1970) the adjoining smithy.
Barton Farmhouse, Barton Farm Cottage, garden wall to Barton Farmhouse,
Cliff House, Smithy, Rosemary Cottage, Ryme Cottage and East and West wings
of Floracre form a group.
