Late C18 or early C19. Approximately 3 window stucco front. 3 storeys and
attics. Tiled roof, hipped dormers. Moulded wood cornice with fluted frieze.
Near west end is a slight set-back in which is segmental arched opening to
courtyard. Above this is a window with cast iron balcony. Also near the west
end is a 1st floor splayed bay. Main feature of the front is a projecting porch
with Roman Doric columns supporting an entablature. Elaborate cast iron balustrade
and lamp bracket. Above this is a fine 2 storey semi-circular bow. Windows
of 5 lights with fluted pilasters between them. Entablature with triglyphs
above centre-line of pilasters. Main cornice of the facade is returned round
bow above 2nd floor. Stables and outbuildings include former King's Arms Tap.
Late C18 or early C19. Chequer brick. Hipped old tile roof. Various modern
windows and 3 Diocletian windows.
The Municipal Buildings and Nos28 to 33 (consec) form a group.
