Small country house. Late C18 and early C19. Ashlar sandstone rising from shallow
plinth with quoins, shallow pitched slated roofs with intermediate and end brick
stacks. Irregular plan, sited on sloping ground, with main front to garden
elevation, of three storeys, and entrance front to north, of two storeys. South
elevation: three storeys, four bays, with glazing bar sashes within projecting
stone frames to first and second floors. Band course with moulded cornice above,
below shallow parapet. Ground floor has two 4-light flush mullioned windows with
glazing bar casements, situated between which is a former quoined doorway, transformed
into a semi-circular niche with semi-circular head with keyblock and moulded drip.
Attached to west end, with a hipped slate roof, two bay range of two storeys above a
basement, of rubble sandstone with glazing bar sashes, to two upper floors, those to
second floor within gabled dormers. Ground floor has single light opening in flush
surround. Lower single storey range added to west end above a basement, with late
C19 quoined surrounds to glazing bar sashes to first floor, and two plain openings
to basement. North elevation: ashlar front with central bay slightly advanced and
fronted by a flat roofed single storey porch, added later, with red sandstone
dressings, chamfered surround to doorway with six panelled double doors. Above
porch, ogee headed window within deeply moulded surround, above a plain band course.
Projecting bay has rusticated quoining, now obscured by later porch. Inserted sash
window to ground floor west of porch.
