Inn Farmhouse

Scarsdale Arms coaching inn, now farmhouse. Early C19. Red brick
with stone dressings. Welsh slate hipped roofs. Two brick ridge
stacks. Moulded stone eaves cornice. Stone first floor sill band.
Two storeys. East elevation of five bays. Off-centre doorway
with channelled stone lintel. Half glazed door. To the right a
glazing bar sash under channelled stone lintel. Similar window to
left. To left again a blocked doorway and another similar window
beyond. Five similar windows above, two of them blind with glazing
bars painted on. Similar two-bay north elevation and lower wing
to rear. Interior: Minton tiled entrance hall, panelled doors
and stick baluster staircase. The upper rooms have plain C19
chimneypieces, one of Hoptonwood Stone. Ground floor has Adam style
chimneypieces from elsewhere.
