Cross and base. Medieval and 1932. sandstone. Square in plan. Socket stone and
part of the shaft, set on three steps, made in 1932 and inscribed This ancient stone
here preserved is the base/ and part of the shaft of the medieval/ village cross. The
words cut upon it show/ that it was utilised as a guide post after such were/
ordered to be set up at crossways in the year 1702./ Restored by W A Taylor Esq
St Lawrence of this parish AD 1932. On the base of the cross is inscribed
by captain/ fire brass/ MANSFIELD RODE/ DARBY RODE/ CHESTERFIELD/ RODE.
