Cottage. Probably late C17 or early C18 with C18 or C19 outshut and C20
extension at rear. Painted local slate rubble. Thatched roof, half hipped
at left end and gabled at right end, now swept down over outshut. The
thatch is also carried down over the rear extension. Painted stone rubble
stack at left hand end with short shaft with weathering.
Plan: Small 1-room plan 2-storey cottage backing onto the road and heated
from stack at the right hand west end, and with a newel staircase at the
front right hand corner. In circa late C18 or C19 a single storey outshut
was built at the right hand end. On the north front there is a large C20
extension.
Exterior: 1 storey and attic. Asymmetrical elevation to the road was
originally the back and has a window to left of centre with C20 casement.
the right hand (east) end has C20 casement on ground and first floors and
C20 glazed door to left. The outshut at the left (west) end has a C20
glazed door to left. On the north front a large C20 rendered extension with
a thatched catslide roof.
Interior: Only the ground storey was inspected, the ceiling has rough
chamfered joists and the fireplace is blocked. There is a wooden newel
staircase.
