Gardener's bothy situated inside kitchen garden walls. Circa early C19. Slate
rubble with red brick dressings. Trefoil on plan with trefoiled conical slated roof,
probably originally thatched. Trefoiled brick chimney stack at roof apex. Single
storey. Four-centred arch gothic casement windows with Y-tracery and glazing bars
in red brick arch openings. Central reset C16 granite four-centred arch doorway with
roll moulding and carved spandrels.
The bothy is situated in the centre of the splay on the west side of the kitchen
garden, on a raised terrace.
The C16 doorway has been reused from an earlier house on or near the site, evidence
for which is a large stone set into a C19 stable range nearby, inscribed "PER W:
A Hele AR : 1596"
