Group of 9 headstones approximately 10 metres south of south porch of Church of St Paul

Group of 9 headstones. Late C18 and early C19. Principally slate with shaped heads
but two are of stone and two are straight-headed. Six line the edge of the
principal pathway with the remaining set back behind in line. The 6 to front, from
left to right, are to Elizabeth Southcombe d. 1756, with angel's bust to head; John
Passimore d. 1785, urn to head containing words 'Reader Fear the Lord'; Jane
Passmore d. 1817, straight-headed with incised decoration to borders; stone with
illegible inscription; Richard Ferrer d. 1796 with urn to head; and slate stone
with verse 'A virgin fair lies buried here/who to her parents was most dear/God
thought it fit to call her hence/In Heaven to dwell among the Saints'. The three
stones to rear from left: slate stone, nowy-arched with verse: 'Behold all you/that
pass here by/As you are now/so once was I/As I are now/so you must be/Prepare for
death/And follow me. Jenny Fisher d. 1773. Angels bust to head. Mary Trebble.
