Farmhouse. Circa C16 origin, remodelled and extended in circa late C17 and
remodelled again in circa C18. Rendered stone rubble. Slurried slate roof
with gabled ends and heightened eaves. Early crested ridge tiles over rear
wing. Rendered stacks at gable ends. Originally probably a three room and
through across passage plan, much altered to form end stack plan with later
partitions to form room at either end and lateral entrance passage across centre
of front with room behind and stairs to left. Circa late C17 kitchen wing at
rear of left hand end with stack at gable end with set-offs. Two storey, four
window range. C19/20 casements with glazing bars. First floor windows have
fixed top lights. Circa early C19 panelled door to right of centre with C20
timber porch. Interior: Two chamfered ceiling beams with ogee on step stops
in left hand (south) room. Plain unstepped chamfered beam at centre. Some
later C18 or early C19 panelled doors. Roof: Three rear blades of trusses
of the higher left hand end have morticed apices and lap-jointed far collars
and morticed far two tiers of threaded purlins, only upper purlins remains and
the lower purlins, collars, ridge piece and front blade of trusses all missing.
The rest of the roof has been replaced in C18, C19 and C20.
