Farmhouse, former manor house. Circa late C16 or earlier remodelled in C18.
Rendered stone rubble. Asbestos slate-roof with gabled and hipped ends. 3 room and
through passage plan with rear lateral hall stack, stack at higher gable end heating
inner room, lower end stack removed and square stair turret at rear of higher end.
Later rear outshuts. 2 storeys. 4 window range. Ground floor circa C18 3-light
casements, only one retains its leaded panes. First floor C19/20 casements, right
hand at lower end is blocked. To right of centre through passage doorway. At rear
square stair turret has slate hood mould over small window. Interior: possibly an
inserted floor in hall. Hall has moulded axial ceiling beam with 2 ovolos and
2 hollows and with bar steps. At inner end of hall similar moulded half beam now in
inner room because partition has been moved. Chamfered beam with step stops
parallel to main beam. Inner room also has chamfered beams with step stops and some
seem to be reused. Through passage has later partitions. Fireplaces blocked and
lower end former kitched fireplace removed. Circa C18 roof has 8 trusses with
straight principals crossed at apices and with side-pegged collars. Rafters,
purlins and ridge-piece replaced.
