House. C17. Whitewashed and rendered, probably stone and cob; slate roof, gabled at
ends; axial stack with a handmade brick shaft.
Plan: Sited facing the village street. A single depth main range, 2 rooms wide, with
a passage entrance to left of centre. The large room to the right, heated by a
stack backing on to the passage, is probably the C17 hall, the smaller room, to the
left, is an unheated service room. A stair rises off the rear of the hall, there may
originally have been a inner room, lost as a result of subdivision: the-house has a
flying freehold with the property adjoining at the right (south).
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3 window front with a C20 recessed front door to
left of centre. 2-light C19 or early C20 timber casements with glazing bars except
of ground floor left which is a 1-light window.
Interior: the principal ground floor room preserves C17 carpentry; the fireplace has
a chamfered lintel with one elaborate scroll stop, the right hand stop worn away; a
chamfered crossbeam and exposed joists.
Roof: Not inspected at time of survey but principal rafters visible upstairs are said
to be straight (information from owner).
