2 dwellings formerly farmhouse. C17 fabric with late C18/early C19 remodelling of
street gable end. Rubble and cob, stuccoed street frontage, roughcast rendering to
sides. Slate roof. 3 cell plan built gable end to street with low right-angled 2
storey extension to street frontage now forming L-shaped plan. State with early
brick stack set diagonally to rear left side with single cone pot and C19 brick
stack on front extension with 2 cone pots. Behind to right side is large rubble
lateral stack. Gable end to street has single sash 2 panes over 2 panes in upper
storey and similar sash in low extension to right over pair of horizontal sliding
sashes, 6 panes per light each side of low ½-glazed door in deep reveal. Added
plank canopy attempts to keep rain out of sunk threshold. All window openings with
stone sills and deep reveals. South side has C20 3- and 2-light casements.
Chamfered beams in middle room but interior much altered. The farmhouse is an
example of a centrally placed former village farmstead in relation to Braunton's
historic cellular town plan and surviving Great Field.
